Quantum of Solace trailer

Here's the first trailer for Quantum of Solace: 007. The sequel to Casino Royale. I loved Casino Royale. I thought it was hands down the BEST James Bond film and I thought Daniel Craig was cooler than the previous Bond's. Even better than Connery. Check out this trailer here.

Naruto - Ultimate Ninja Storm - freakin' awesome!!!

First of all, I'm a big Naruto fan! I've been a fan ever since I bought the first issue of Shonen Jump magazine back in spring 2003. I have every volume of the manga all the way up to Naruto Shippuden with the current Naruto Vol. 29.

I have a PS3 so I missed out on playing Naruto: Rise of A Ninja on the 360, which is considered to be the best Naruto game ever made. But now there's Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm coming out this year. It's a PS3 exclusive that I heard about a couple years ago and I've gotta tell ya. This game is looking fucking awesome. I've never seen a fighting game quite like this before.

A demo of the game should come out next month. Check out the footage for yourself here.

Gears of War 2 Multi-player

Gears of War 2 is coming out this November and we've all seen the awesome trailer that debut a month ago. No there's a video showing of the games multiplayer maps, game modes and new weapons and tricks that you can unleash on all your unsuspecting buddy's. The multi-player gameplay looks like a huge improvement from the first game and will definitely having people forgetting about the first game.

Final Fantasy Dissidia

Here's a sweet ass trailer for Final Fantasy Dissidia. The PSP fighting game that incorporates many characters from the Final Fantasy franchise. Tidus, Squall, Sephiroth, Ultimecia and many others show up in this kick ass game. Square Enix is really doing a good job at making the PSP a portable gaming device worth buying. They've got Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core already out in stores and now they've got Final Fantasy Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep coming down the pipeline.

What is it with Hollywood and all these damn CG movies with talking animals? Kung-Fu Panda, The Wild, Flushed Away, Maddagascar, Over The Hedge, Shark Tale, Ice Age, Ratatouille, Happy Feat, Finding Nemo, The Ant Bully, Chicken Little, Surf's Up...I mean, the list just goes on and on. But here's a CG animated flick with talking animals that actually looks good! This flick is called The Tale of Despereaux about a mouse who doesn't abide by the usual rules of what a mouse is supposed to be. It's more serious than most CG flicks. I might actually check this one out.

Good Review, Bad Review.

Ok, so Alone in the Dark has hit stores and the reviews are out, but the only problem with that is the reviews are all over the place.

Get this, IGN (US) gave Alone in the Dark a 3.5 out of 10...but IGN (UK) gave it a 7.0 and IGN (AU) gave it a 5.9 out of 10.

Now, the IGN (US) review is a load of bull shit and I'll show why. Here's the scores they gave for the aspects of the game:

4.5 Presentation
The story and dialogue are goofy, and both are delivered awkwardly. A DVD-esque menu system is good for skipping around, but otherwise it’s pretty useless when there’s little worth watching.

Ok, I'll let this one slide, but I find it funny that games like Halo 3 are considered to have a 10 out of 10 story, but whatever, so maybe the story isn't the strong point so we won't call shinanagans on this one.

6.0 Graphics
Central Park looks adequately spooky at times, and the game runs smoothly. But most character models, enemies and environments lack personality.

Whoa there cowboy, now we've all seen the graphics for this game and they look amazing. Even if the character models, environments, and enemies lack personality does that really knock it to 6 out of 10, I'd say at least a 7 to an 8 if the characters and environments are really that boring.

6.5 Sound
The soundtrack is catchy, creepy and atmospheric. But the voice acting is cringe-worthy.

WTF IGN!? So, everything, but the voice acting is good, so it gets knocked down to a 6.5!? How the hell does that make sense? Look, the soundtrack is absolutely stellar. If you don't believe me, watch any of the trailers or youtube the soundtrack
. Honestly, this is one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a good while. The voice acting, ok, maybe this is terrible, but again, I've watched the trailers and it doesn't sound ridiculously terrible...but hey, this guy's a professional reviewer, right?

3.0 Gameplay
Glitchy, buggy, frustrating, boring and repetitive. The few truly interesting puzzles don’t balance out the annoying inventory system, controls and combat.

Laugh my fucking ass off! (LMAO)
This has to be the biggest unprofessional part of the review. Ok, so yes, the controls of Alone in the Dark have been the biggest complaint from all reviewers, but you can see how fact and opinion have been flipped. Apparently, this guy must've had the hardest time grasping the control scheme and he also had some serious trouble solving puzzles (which he explains in his video review), so from that instead of going by fact, which would be that the game is playable once you can grasp how the controls work because they aren't a mainstream layout, he blatantly vomits out frustration in his critique. I mean he's telling you there is nothing good, at all, in this game...yeah, ok.

3.0 Lasting Appeal
You probably won't want to finish this game, let alone play it more than once. Since everything is open from the very beginning, there's nothing to go back and unlock.

So, is this fact or opinion? The problem with reviews is people look at them as purely the opinion of the reviewer, which to a certain degree has some truth to it. The job of a reviewer is to critically analyze aspects of whatever they're reviewing, base the points to determine whether or not a large majority of its targeted audience will find enjoyment out of it, and then share his OPINIONATED response to his/her experience with the title or product. Unfortunately what we have here is fact thrown out the window for what I can only describe as a rant.

Look, I hate the Madden series, they are to me Glitchy, buggy, frustrating, boring and repetitive. This is exactly what the IGN (US) reviewer said about Alone in the Dark, now do I just state that in my review of Madden. No, I would have to say that the controls are responsive, moves and plays are easy to pull off with the actions mapped to the right buttons. However, I found that the controls could've been tweaked out to simplify the gameplay more, but overall it's easy to grasp the controls and gameplay.

This reviewer could've explained that with a little practice and effort you can get comfortable with the awkward control scheme, but be prepared for that extra time exerted into figuring out how to play the game. If the sound of that turns you off to the game, then this will probably be a frustrating experience for you.
Instead, what we got was, these controls are so frustrating, I can't play the game, this is boring.

Ok, I'm off the done with the IGN bashing, but there's one more thing I want to bring up. Reviewers usually hit around the same ballpark when reviewing the same title. Halo 3 pretty much scored perfect across the board, as did GTA 4 and MGS 4. This game and a few others are too far apart from each other. I mean the UK branch of IGN gives it a 7 and the AU branch gave it a 5.9! How do you base a decision off that? Simple, try it out for yourself!
Still, reviews should help with the consumer decision which is why we need as much fact with slightly less opinion thrown in, but y'know...to each their own...

Final consensus: IGN gave a BAD REVIEW! (This is probably how IGN would give out a final consensus.)

Here's the IGN video review, notice that he barely shows what he hates about the game and also notice how many times he explains the good in the game, yet it still got a 3.5...

Now, here's GameTrailers review on the game, which I found to be the perfect epitome of a GOOD REVIEW, however, they have had some weird reviews in the past like saying MGS 4 had a weaker story than Halo 3 or GTA 4...but that's a whole different rant.

Here's the GameTrailers review:

Notice all the points the make and how substantially different their tone is from the IGN reviewer.

Final consensus: A review done right!

Dead Space gameplay

Hot damn this game looks good. Come this Halloween, Dead Space will be one of the must-have games of the holiday season. This game just looks visually cool. Heroes season 3 - Exploding Earth?

Here's a couple interesting pictures from the set of the third season of Heroes.
One picture has a cooler and more badass look for Peter Petrelli and the other picture may be a clue to the threat that the characters may have to face in the next season. It looks like the earth could be on the verge of exploding. This could be another Issac Mendez type of painting. Peter Petrelli has Issac Mendez's ability to paint pictures of visions of the future. This exploding earth painting may be the future threat the heroes must battle. The name of the next season is called "Villains" so expect to see lots of heroes vs. villains fights.

The next season will air in September.

Alone in the Dark...how can this be a bad game!?

Alone in the Dark has been released in the UK recently and has gotten some pretty uninspiring reviews. From what I can tell the reviews practically praise every feature of the game except for the controls, but apparently, the controls are so broken that it brings the entire gaming experience to a crash.

There are numerous reports of bugs and glitches as well.

Still, after watching this trailer, how can this be a bad game?

Bad controls seem like it'd be worth fighting for just to see this game through its entirety.

I'll let you be the judge.

Ong Bak 2 trailer - martial-arts awesomeness!!

Has anyone ever heard of Tony Jaa? No? Well, let me tell you about the coolest martial-arts superstar that no one knows about.

Tony Jaa stared in Ong Bak and The Protector. Both films show off Tony doing real stunts without green screen, special effects or wire work. All of his stunts and moves are more real than Jackie Chan's. When someone in his films gets punched, they get punched for real! There are real hits in Tony Jaa's films with some of the craziest fight scenes you'll ever see. One particular fight sequence that will forever be locked in your memory is the one in The Protector that lasts for 4 minutes without the camera ever cutting! No bullshit! There's a fight scene that goes on for 4 minutes without the camera ever cutting to another shot. It just goes on and on in one continuous shot!!!

Tony Jaa's fighting style is mostly Muay Thai, which is the same fighting style that Sagat uses in the Street Fighter games. As a fan of Tony Jaa, I'm happy to say that Ong Bak 2 is coming out soon!! Here's a trailer for the sequel. Prepare for some Tony Jaa awesomeness!!!

Square Enix trailers

Square Enix has released trailers for three of their upcoming games - Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant and Star Ocean: The Last Hope.

The Last Remnant - The cityscapes look good but I'm really not feeling the character and creature designs. I have to be honest here, this looks like a very generic RPG. I expected better from Square Enix.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope - A very short trailer, but a taste of things to come.

Infinite Undiscovery - Now this is what I'm talking about! This looks better than The Last Remnant.

This will be held on August 2 & 3. The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery, Dragon Quest IX, Soul Eater: Monotone Princess and Star Ocean: The Last Hope are not listed. Doesn't surprise me since so many studios are leaving E3 to do their own press events like Ubidays, Capcom's Gamer's Day, Seirra Gamer's Day and now Square Enix's DKS 3713 Party.

The titles that will be unveiled there are -
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Final Fantasy Agito XIII
Final Fantasy Dissidia
Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children Complete

Akihabara Massacre - traggic anime death!

Horrible news for you anime fans looking to take a trip to Akihabara. Some crazy nutcase named Tomohiro Kato intentionally drove a two-ton rental truck into a crowded intersection of Chuo and Kanda Myojin street in the Akihabara district of Tokyo this past Sunday around 12:35 PM. Tomohiro Kato then got out of the truck and started randomly stabbing people in the streets. 17 people were injured and 7 are dead.

He announced his plans on a cell phone bulletin board hours before the event. Pycho-fuck Kato said that he got tired of living and just wanted to commit random violence for no damn reason. What a fuck up!

Akihabara is known as the geek capital of anime fandom. It's crazy to think something like this happened.

Transformers 2: Revenge of The Fallen

I found word on the Transformers sequel that it will be called Transformers 2: Revenge of The Fallen. That subtitle may sound cool or bad depending on who you ask, but there's word from the Transformers fan community that the subtitle "The Fallen" might actually refer to a character from the Transformers comic books. The Fallen is said to be an ancient Transformer who's like the Devil of their mythology. He's one of 13 original good Transformers who turned against the other 12 of the group and was cast down, hence the name "The Fallen". He then becomes a being of power who dedicates himself to Unicron - the twin brother and enemy of the Transformers' creator Primus who was sealed with Fallen in another dimension.

The Fallen. This is what he looks like in the comics.

This is Unicron. A giant robot similar in size to Galactus I believe.

This is Primus. A Transformer that transforms into a planet!!!

Reports say that the new Transformers in the sequel are a remote-control truck named Wheelie. This is Wheelie from the original cartoon. He was a car...or something.

A Can-Am Spyder motorcycle will transform into Arcee. Arcee was a female autobot. Here's a CG design of her that someone made. This is NOT from the movie. This is some CG art design that someone did online. But it gives you an idea of what to expect in the sequel.

A beat up old ice cream truck which will become The Twins. I couldn't find any pictures online of The Twins. They might even be made up for the movie cuz I have no idea if they're actually from the cartoons and comics.

The 2008 Pontiac Solstice which becomes Jazz (yes, Jazz is returning somehow). We all remember what Jazz looked like in the first film. Supposedly they're using the same vehicle for Jazz that they used in the first movie.

There's also an Autobot based on the Chevrolet Beat concept car.

Over the weekend John Turturro, Megan Fox, and Shia Lebeouf were all filming a scene on the set that involved a SR-71 Blackbird that transforms into Jetfire. Jetfire is an Autobot that can fly! Finally, we get to see some flying Autobots! Imagine Jetfire and Starscream fighting in mid-air at the same time!!

I've heard that the Constructicons would appear in the film. But I haven't heard much about them yet. I sure hope they're in the sequel. This pic is another CG project that someone did online. Still, it looks pretty fucking sweet!!

In an interview, one of the writers of the film said that they couldn't get Soundwave into the first film because they couldn't figure out how to work him into the movie. But he said they've figured out a way to get him into the sequel. Here's a picture of what may be original concept art of Soundwave for the first film which was later scrapped.
